Holi is one of India's most beloved and ancient festivals, celebrated every year in March on the full moon day of the Hindu month Phalguna. Known as the "Festival of Colors" or the "Festival of Love," Holi marks the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil.
The most popular legend is the story of Prahlad and Holika. Prahlad, a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu, was saved from a fire set by his aunt Holika, who intended to destroy him. Holika perished in the flames while Prahlad emerged unharmed — symbolizing the victory of devotion and righteousness.
The evening before Holi, people light bonfires called "Holika Dahan" to commemorate this event. The next morning, the streets come alive with colors as people smear each other with gulaal, spray water with pichkaris, and celebrate with music, dance, and festive foods.
In 2026, Holika Dahan falls on March 13 and the main celebration (Dhulandi/Rangwali Holi) is on March 14, 2026. Make your cards early and be the first to wish your loved ones!
